What Publication Information do you need to record in order to create a legal (non-plagiarized) reference?

Publication information can include the following:

• Name of author(s), editor(s)
• Name of book, article, web page, etc.
• Name of journal, magazine, newspaper, web site, etc.
• Volume numbers, page numbers, if applicable
• Copyright date, publication date, date article was posted (Internet), date you saw it on-line (Internet)
• Name of publisher and more

ÑOnce you are fairly sure you will use some of the information in a particular source, here is what to do:

1. Go to Landmarks Citation Machine and find the type of source in the yellow strip on the left.

2. Click on it and see on the right the boxes you will have to fill to create a reference.

3. Be sure you retrieve the publication information to fill those boxes when you create the citation in the process.
