     _____I. An introductory paragraph that provides the following:

                     1.. The name of the author,

                     2. The name of the work,

                     3. A brief summary of the work—enough information so that your reader has a clear understanding of what the article, book, story, or film is about.

                If the summary is relatively straightforward and brief, include

                     4. A transition to your thesis sentence and

                     5. Your thesis sentence at the end

 

    NOTE: If the summary is more involved and extensive, you can add a second paragraph that acts as a transition and states your thesis sentence at its end. 

 

     _____II. Three to four effective response paragraphs to the article that blend words from the article and credit the article correctly.  (Please follow the examples given in other assignments.)

 

     _____III. An appropriate, elegant conclusion.
