Welcome to Blackboard Look
Around this Site As you look around Blackboard, you will see a
variety of things. First, turn your attention to the column of blue buttons
located on the left side of this screen. These buttons will help you
navigate through this class. Feel free to experiment by clicking on each of
these buttons. The following is an explanation of each button. Announcements: This
takes you to the opening page for the course. As the name implies, this is
where you will view any announcements related to the course. Please
note that you can choose any of the four tabs (View Today, View
Last 7 Days, View Last 30 Days, and View All) to view
announcements. Please check the announcements regularly for course
updates. Course Information: This
is where you will find the information about the course including the course syllabus and a link to check your grade.
More will be added as the course
progresses, so be sure to check for changes. ÑTHE WORK WEEK IN THIS CLASS:
The work week in this class is as follows: Monday is Day 1, Tuesday is Day 2,
Wednesday is Day 3, Thursday is Day 4, Friday is Day 5, Saturday is Day 6,
and Sunday (Day 7) is the end of the class week. All assignments for each week (preparatory
writing assignments, discussion responses, quizzes, etc.) must be
completed on or before the specified day and time on the assignment.
There are no exceptions to this time frame, so procrastinators beware. Assignments: This
is where you will find detailed assignments for each week of the quarter. You
may find additional information posted about special instructions/information
during any given week if it becomes necessary. Course Documents:
This is where you will find useful documents that I will direct us
toward later in the quarter. Communication: This
link leads to our Discussion Board, the Group Pages, and Messaging. External
Links: This is where you will find a variety
of links that are shortcuts (links) to information that will be useful during
the quarter. These links include links to my web site, toVirtual Gradebook which is
the online grading system used in this class, and to SCC’s
Library. Check My
Grade: This link allows you to check your
course grade using Virtual Gradebook. Staff
Information: This section contains
information about me, including a link to my e-mail. Please use the
“Discussion Board” (You can find this by clicking on the Communications
button) for questions regarding the class content rather than send an e-mail
to me. In this way everyone will benefit from questions and responses. Below the blue buttons, please find Course Tools.
Clicking on Course Tools will take you to your Personal Information link. This is
the same as the Personal Information button on your Homepage. Here you
can edit the information about yourself. It is a good idea to change your password
immediately (directions for doing so
can be found later in this document)! ÑHow to send your
