Directions: Please complete the following steps leading to creating, revising, and submitting your first essay.

Step 1: Review the blue packet information on pages 14-18.

Step 2: Read for understanding and information pages 211-223 in your textbook.

Step 3: In rough form in your journal, complete paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 of Writing Assignment #1 (“Problems with My Apartment”) on pages 224-226.

Step 4: Finally, using Writing Assignment #2, pages 227-228 top, create, revise, and submit an essay for grading by the due date.

When I grade your essay, I will look for the following in particular:

Ø Organization: a clear thesis sentence at the end of your first paragraph. A “Milkshake Essay” structure throughout.

Ø Development: a clear topic sentence at the beginning of each body paragraph as well as unity, coherence, and completeness of body paragraph details.

Ø Language Use: absence of sentencing errors (fragments, comma splices, run-ons). Proper use of Commonly Confused Words (Zero-Tolerance Skill #1)
