Basic Sources Page Formats

EFirst, do NOT number your sources.  Alphabetize them according to the last name of the author or the first major word of the title (in other words, ignore “the,” “a,” and “an”) if there is no author listed.

EAuthors are always listed last name then first name.

For Websites and the Internet

üAuthor--website name—publisher--the date it was last updated--the word “Web”--the date you first found it.

Roth, Jim. SCC Homepage. Spokane Community College. 3 Mar. 2010. Web. 27 May 2010.

(Please note the indent in the above example.)

üFor Books

Author’s name—book name—city—publisher—copyright date.

Roth, Jim. Soap is Fun. Boston: Soap Publishing Company, 2010.

(Please note the book’s name is underlined in the above example.)

üFor Interviews

Person’s name (always last, first)—the words “Personal interview”—the date of the interview.

üFor ProQuest Articles

Use the format that Proquest suggests when you click the “Cite this” button, but be sure to list the author last name first.
