Test and Quiz Diary

Directions: Starting this week, please begin keeping a Test and Quiz Diary of your experiences in your classes this quarter.  Your diary can be informal--one only you can read and understand--but please see this as a serious opportunity to learn something about yourself and make adjustments if necessary.

Try to write at least a one-paragraph entry for each quiz or test you take. The Test and Quiz Diary Topics below should give you some ideas about how to frame your response.

Occasionally I might ask you to choose and post an entry to share with the rest of the class.

For each entry, please record the following:

Ø The test or quiz class and date

Ø Your responses to some or all of the topics below

Suggested Test and Quiz Diary Topics

Please consider the following topics when writing your entry for each test or quiz.

·       Did I know and write down the date of the test or quiz when it was announced?

·       Did I know specifically what the test or quiz would cover before I began preparing?

·       Did I know what the test or quiz’s relative value was to the total grade in the course before I began preparing?

·       When did I begin preparing? In advance?  Just before?

·       How did I prepare?  Flashcards?  Class notes?  Nothing?

·       What was my emotional response to the test or quiz before I actually took it?

·       What was my emotional response to the test or quiz as I was taking it?

·       What was my emotional response to the test or quiz after I took it?

·       What test-taking techniques, if any, did I use during the test or quiz?  What process did I use to answer the test or quiz questions?

·       Did I “debrief” after taking the test or quiz?

·       What did I do with my test or quiz if it was handed back to me?
