Text: The Norton Anthology of Western Literature, 8th Edition, Volume 1

Join us for an exciting tour of classic masterpieces.  We begin with The Epic of Gilgamesh and selected parts of The Iliad and The Odyssey.  Next we visit The Bible, Greek theater, and Augustine.  Later we journey through hell (The Inferno) with Dante, slay dragons with Beowulf, and sample medieval life with Chaucer.  Our tour ends with the adventures of Don Quixote, Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and portions of Milton’s Paradise Lost.  The goal is to make these classics accessible and enjoyable.
