Chinese 101 Final Outline
There will be a two-part final examination.
Final exam = 30% of total grade.
Part I: Self-portrait (50% of your final exam).
You will have the sample of sentence patterns from me on this topic. You will introduce yourself in Chinese, and you are encouraged to add more sentences into the sample. If you want to try more sentences, which are not on our handouts or chapters, please feel free to ask my two teaching assistants or me.
When you perform, you cannot read your notes. I’d like to see your eye contact with your classmates, and you may bring your notes with you.
You need to show me the outline of your performance.
Time limit: 5-10 minutes.
The minimum sentences covered: 15 sentences for each person.
Perform time: starts from week 11.
Everyone is expected to listen and grade your classmates. There will be a 1% grade deduction for each day you are not present.
Part II: Chinese Idioms (50% of your final exam).
Each individual will perform a Chinese idiom to the class. You will teach our class how to pronounce one Chinese idiom first, then tell the class the whole story. You are encouraged to use any visual aids to make your presentation vivid and help us to understand you better.
If you are not sure how to pronounce any pinyin in the story you have, then please ask me as soon as possible.
Time limit: 5-8 minutes.
Perform time: starts from week 11.
Questions? Please ask!
What do I want in your presentation? Be creative!
