#5 and #6: (Double Points) Hamlet
Due: Wednesday, May 2, 2001
Consider a change in the plot of Hamlet.
Imagine that Hamlet does not follow the ghost’s command to avenge the murder. What would be the result? Perhaps far fewer people would die. Also, Fortinbras and his Norwegian army might not find a Denmark so easily defeated and occupied. Other possibilities unfold.
In
300 words or so, invent and sketch the plot of a new Hamlet in
which Hamlet does not choose to follow the ghost’s command.
·
What
events would you create?
·
What
relationships would develop?
·
How
would this new Hamlet end?
