First Week of School Checklist

Use this list to begin each new quarter

Ø Before the quarter begins or as soon as you get your books, complete a Textbook and Chapter Survey Sheet for each.

Ø Attend each class regularly from the first day. Be early to each class the first week to reserve a seat up front.

Ø Read each course syllabus carefully, ask questions, and fill out a Course Chart for each of your classes.

Ø Print out a quarter calendar and label it with due dates of major assignments and tests.

Ø Read again The Curve of Forgetting handout.

Ø Buy at least 100 blank three-by-five cards.

Ø Buy an inexpensive USB thumb drive.

Ø Consider the advantages of keeping materials for all your courses in one three-ring binder with section dividers.

Ø Before each quiz or test, review the test-taking hints.
