·        Value: up to 100 points

 

·        Due: Beginning of class, Monday, June 5

 

·        Peer Editing Workshop—Tuesday, May 30--attendance and participation with a completed rough draft yields 25 points.

 

·        Length: 400-500 words with the following content:

 

 

 

Steps to follow:

 

___1.  First, please read the following sections of our text, Steps to Writing Well:

Exposition, pp. 179-180

Strategy One: Development by Example, pp. 180-193. 

Essay Topics, pp. 185-186

Strategy Four: Development by Definition, pp. 232-245. 

Essay Topics, pp. 236-237

___2. After you have read the above pages, select either Development by Example or Development by Definition for your final essay.

___3.  Essay topics for Development by Example can be found on pp. 185-186.

 

___4.  Essay topics for Development by Definition can be found on pp. 236-237.

 

___5.  Select a topic from the appropriate list of Essay Topics and write a five-paragraph essay.  (Use The Milkshake Essay (the one on the hot pink sheet) as an example of structure and format.)

 

___6.  Write multiple drafts until you have something worth sharing with your reader.

 

___7.  Bring two copies of your revised draft to our Peer Editing Workshop and be ready to give and receive constructive, helpful suggestions.

 

___8.  Incorporate into another revision as many of your Writing Group’s comments as you think appropriate and revise again.

 

___9.  Review the Essay Grading Sheet to see how your essay measures up and make necessary adjustments. Please remember that more will be expected from this essay than from the one before it.

 

___10. Submit your final draft by the due date, beginning of class, Monday, June 5.
