Community College Instructor

Thirty-one years teaching at Spokane Community College. Developed curriculum, taught in lab, lecture, and on-line settings, and evaluated student performance. Continuously involved in other professional activities such as tenure review committees, screening committees, the Association of Higher Education and Standard Four Accreditation Team.

Department Chair: Business and Management
July 2006 - present

Coordinate the activities of the department and assist in integrating the work of the department with rest of the college: scheduling, budgets, adjunct faculty, equipment, meetings, textbooks educational integrity, student issues, program coordination, information dissemination, & department representation.

AHE Contract Negotiation Team
Fall 2001 – present

Faculty representative to the CCS interest based bargaining team for 2002-05, lead negotiator for the 2005-08 contract, and current member of the team for the 2008-11 contract.

Marketing and Management Instructor
January 1995-present

Courses taught: Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Business Math Calculators, Marketing, Retailing, and Advertising. Received the SCC Certificate for Teaching Excellence February 1997, the NISOD Award for Excellence in Teaching 1999, and the CCS Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence in 2007.

Delta Epsilon Chi Advisor
October 1990-present

Oversee the activities of the SCC DEC Club, which is an instructional related program for marketing and management students. Activities include fundraisers, community service, state and international competition and workshops. Responsible for leadership training, competition preparation and management of club budget.

Trained students for entry-level positions in the grocery and retail sales industries. Coordinated an internship program with local businesses. Assisted in job placement.
