Fall 2001:  "Reading, Writing, and Culture: Images of Women's Lives and Communities"

Welcome to the course!

To register for this IDS class, make sure that you sign up for 10 credits--5 credits of composition (either 101, 201, or 225) and 5 credits of literature (131 or 278).  See a counselor if you need help deciding in which class to enroll.  Because this class is an interdisciplinary course, you cannot take one class without the other. Classes begin on Sept. 17th.

To help your planning, we have added the course syllabus on this website (with required texts), as well as the first two paper assignments.  The course schedule will be listed shortly.

A note about textbooks:  There are many books in the bookstore,  but they are not all required.  It may be confusing, so we ask that you not buy books until you come to class the first day.  If you feel the need to do some advance reading, the first two novels that we will cover are Ruth Reichel's Tender at the Bone and Laura Esquivel's Like Water for Chocolate.
