Boudin and rock hammer (image)Spacer imageOur journey takes us through a vast period of geologic time starting as far back as 1.5 billion years ago in the Precambrian Era, all the way through to the present. Experience igneous and metamorphic rocks of a metamorphic core complex and see the results from two of the most catastrophic flooding events in geologic history; the great volcanic flood basalts of the Columbia River sequence and the effects of the Pleistocene-aged Missoula floods. The Pleistocene glacial floods ultimately eroded and sculpted the landscape we see today and they created the aquifer system that underlies much of the Spokane Valley. All in all, the Spokane area has an incredible variety of geology rivaled nowhere else in the world!
